Spring and autumn give 22–28°C and comfortable walking at Petra, which involves several kilometres on uneven ground. Summer reaches 35–40°C in the desert and at Petra, with little shade. Winter is cold — Petra can see snow, and desert nights approach freezing — though the Dead Sea and Aqaba stay mild and it's the cheapest season.
