Sri Lanka has two monsoons hitting opposite coasts, which sounds complicated and isn't.
December to March is the reliable window: dry on the south and west coasts, good in the cultural triangle, and blue whale season off Mirissa. May to September brings rain to the south-west but leaves the east coast — Trincomalee, Arugam Bay — dry and sunny, so a summer trip simply flips which beach you finish on. Dubai is comfortable November to April.

A driver, and it's inexpensive. Sri Lankan roads are slow and chaotic and self-driving on a first visit is not something we'd arrange.
It's about right. Eleven in Sri Lanka covers four regions without rushing. If you only have ten nights total we'd cut the cultural triangle rather than the hills.
