Walk the Strip
Bellagio fountains, the Venetian canals, and the volcano. All free, and the hotels are the attraction. Wear proper shoes — it's six kilometres.
Six kilometres of casino resorts in the Mojave desert, and some of the most extraordinary landscape in America within a two-hour drive. Most visitors only do the first half.
Zion is two and a half hours away, the Grand Canyon four, and Death Valley two.
Three nights on the Strip is about right — the shows, the hotels, one very good dinner and a night out. After that most people have had enough of the noise and the walking, and the desert is right there. Zion's canyon walls, Bryce's hoodoos, Valley of Fire an hour away, and the Grand Canyon's south rim. Hire a car and Vegas becomes the gateway to the best landscape in the United States rather than a weekend of casinos.
Hotels as attractions, shows, and desert an hour out.
Bellagio fountains, the Venetian canals, and the volcano. All free, and the hotels are the attraction. Wear proper shoes — it's six kilometres.
Cirque du Soleil, a residency, or a comedy night. Book ahead — the good seats and the popular nights go early.
An hour north-east. Red sandstone formations and petroglyphs, and almost nobody there. The easiest desert day.
South rim is four and a half hours each way — an overnight is far better than a day trip. West rim is closer and much less impressive.
Two and a half and four hours. Zion's canyon and Bryce's hoodoos are the best national parks within reach. Two nights covers both.
Old Vegas downtown, under a canopy of screens. Cheaper, odder and more fun than the Strip after dark.
One long Strip, and the older downtown north of it.
Bellagio, Caesars and the Venetian. Everything within walking distance, and the highest prices.
MGM, Mandalay Bay and the airport end. Big pools, and a longer walk to the middle.
Older resorts and building sites. Cheaper, and a monorail or a long walk from the centre.
Fifteen minutes north. Cheaper rooms, lower stakes, and considerably more character.
March to May and September to November. Summer is dangerously hot for anything outdoors.
Spring and autumn give 22–30°C, which suits both the Strip and the national parks. Summer regularly exceeds 40°C and hiking in Zion or the Grand Canyon becomes a real risk. Winter is mild by day at 15°C and cold at night, with the parks quiet and occasionally snowy — Bryce sits at 2,400m.
10h 30m direct to Harry Reid (LAS), or with one stop from most UK airports.
The Strip on foot, the monorail between resorts, and a hire car for the parks.
$40–$50 per night, charged locally. Not usually in the headline rate — we'll tell you the amount.
Required. Official government site only; the copycats charge four times as much.
We'll add the canyons or pair it with New York or California, and write the payment plan out in full.
Three. Most people have had enough of the noise after that, and the extra nights are better spent on the parks.
The south rim is four and a half hours each way — a very long day. An overnight is far better, and Zion is closer and arguably finer.
A compulsory nightly charge on top of the room rate, typically $40–$50, covering wifi and the pool. Charged at checkout, and we'll flag it before you book.
Yes — a five-hour internal flight, and the two cities could not be less alike. A popular fortnight and we'll price it.

Guide prices, per person, based on two sharing, including return flights, accommodation and transfers. They indicate what a holiday of this type has typically cost and are not an offer or a quotation. Your price depends on dates, party, board basis, departure airport and availability, and is confirmed in writing before any payment is taken.
